This was our third Christmas, second celebrated together and first spending it together in Tennessee. Thus starting of cycle of Christmas at whose house for us.
Besides being our first Christmas in Tennessee, the plans for our wedding started to take shape. We also had our Christmas traditions taking shape. Namely, this meant buying greenery to let dry out so we can burn it on New Year’s Day.
This was New Year’s Day 2016: Christmas Wreath Disposal
The joy of seeing the wreath go up in flames took our breath away (and caused me to locate the fire extinguisher).
The next year, we got a live tree for Christmas. It screamed a bit when we dragged it into the house but then understood the fate it would have. For a brief moment, the gorgeous evergreen was covered in lights with white cord, then in erratically covered with lights whose cords didn’t cause visual pain, and finally, it looked wonderful. The water dish proved to be a water source for the tree and our cats. We bought dainty, classic bulb ornaments to decorate it with, that Zoey, the younger kitty, decided made great toys. She would bat one off a branch, chase it down the hall, and pounce until it broke.
We thought we’d bought a Christmas tree, in reality, we bought a kitty toy. It went into the fireplace again on the New Years and so we’ve asked the landlord to have the chimney swept.
Merry Christmas to all from Franklin, Tennessee!
